Quiet, Refined & Effortlessly Capable

From the sleek and sophisticated lines of the R8, right through to the blocky, almost brutalist architecture of the new Q4 e-tron, there’s an Audi to suit every palate – and the brand has a well-deserved reputation for producing incredibly polished cars. Generally speaking, Audis tend to be quiet and refined; effortlessly capable and a lot of fun to drive.

But it’s their penchant for innovation that really sets Audi apart. Back in 1983, they were the first European manufacturer to experiment with catalytic converters. Today, features like their famous Quattro AWD technology put them head and shoulders above competing marques - cementing their position as one of the leading brands of luxury car.

If you’re an Audi owner, you’ll already know that most of their cars are fine-tuned to balance performance and comfort, but there’s always room for improvement.

We offer a bespoke Audi remapping service that’s designed to further refine your car’s performance – boosting power and torque, improving throttle response and smoothing flat spots to provide an unparalleled experience.

Industry-leading experts with the experience required to write one-of-a-kind remaps, we’ve been tuning Audis for over a decade now. Our in-house technicians know exactly how to squeeze every last drop of power from those german-built engines. How Does Audi Remapping Work?

It may sound like black magic, but remapping is now a relatively straightforward and well-documented process. Simply put, we plug a computer into your car’s diagnostic port, and replace the database your ECU uses to make split-second decisions about the way your car performs. The skill lies in the ability to write a replacement map that fine-tunes performance without sacrificing reliability or efficiency, which is something we’re well known for here at Avon Tuning.

Will my Audi benefit from a Remap?

Audi - like the majority of modern manufacturers - still detune a significant percentage of their lineup. There are a couple of reasons for this.

Firstly, they need to make sure that their cars perform equally well in every region or market they service. Take a car like the RS6 Avant: This ‘practical executive car’ is actually built around the same 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 as the Lamborghini Urus, albeit throttled to produce 50 less BHP.

You could easily tweak the engine management software to restore this lost power, but doing so may mean that the car is less stable in extremely warm or humid environments like southern India, or less reliable in extremely cold parts of the world like Russia or Norway.

It’s a delicate balancing act, and Audi often err on the side of caution. Audi also practice modular design to reduce manufacturing costs across their range; re-using the same chassis and engines across a multitude of vehicles, then ‘detuning’ base models using a sub-standard map to ensure that there’s noticeable difference between their high- and mid-tier, executive and entry-level cars.

Fortunately, an ECU remap will rectify these problems – altering the software that governs your engine to unlock previously-untapped reserves of torque and power.

An Audi ECU remap can also improve your car’s general driveability. When our technicians access your ECU and start modifying the tables that tell your car how to run, they’ll be presented with a unique opportunity to further optimise your engine’s performance.

They’ll be able to widen your power band, improve throttle response and alter your torque curves so that you have more control over your car at lower RPMs. You’ll also find that your car’s quicker off the line, more responsive and generally more fun to drive.

Thanks to our longstanding experience with Audi engines, our technicians are also well-placed to eliminate some of the more irritating quirks that plague cars like the A4 B8; counteracting sluggishness and transforming your experience behind the wheel.

Are there risks to remapping my Audi?

While it’s true that a bad remap could push your car too hard, we take great care to ensure all modifications are in keeping with your engine’s capabilities. We hand-write our own remaps, using a team of experienced technicians that work out of our 5,000 sq. ft tuning HQ in South Gloucester.
